About Last Knight

Last night, September 21st, I was afforded the opportunity to see Mark Knight perform a 2 hour set at Vessel in San Francisco. After seeing Mark Knight perform a four hour set at the BPM Festival last year, I knew I had found a new favorite DJ, and I knew then and there if I ever had the chance to see him again, I would.

Since last time I saw him was at a 10 day house music festival on the beach, I wasn’t sure what to expect of him in the more intimate setting that Vessel provides. I saw Sunnery James and Ryan Marciano there just last Tuesday and they tore the roof off the place. Vessel is a swanky little club with a suave decor, vibrant but modern downstairs dance area, and even club gogos; all in all, its a pretty cool place for an electronic show (though we always stop at Cantina for drinks first, but I digress). I’m pleased to say that if Sunnery and Ryan tore the roof off of Vessel (through the first story, mind you), Mark Knight rebuilt the roof, then conjured a hurricane to blow it off and carry it back to London to sit on his mantle as a testament to his inhuman DJing abilities.

Mark Knight is widely regarded as a master remixer, but his prowess as a house DJ knows no true boundaries. He has this amazingly eclectic vibe the bridges the gap between tech house and progressive house. I don’t know many DJs who could pull that off, but Mark Knight does it brilliantly, and rocks the dance floor with a set both deep and vocal; its really quite a balance. There were times last night where I could almost imagine myself back on those beaches in Mexico. It was a nice little vacation in my head, brought to me by Mark Knight. Thanks again, Mr. Knight, keep em’ coming. (and be sure to check this DJ out if he comes through your locale; you will not regret it).
